Many tips have mentioned to emphasize what for skinny guys to eat and how skinny guys should exercise and lift weight. However, little has been talked about the recovery for them. This does not mean that recovery is not as important as other factors but because most skinny guys do not think about that element seriously. Here I have to emphasize that recovery is one of the most important factors for skinny guys to gain muscle.
So this is may be the reason that many skinny guys ask “can we gain muscle?” They eat proper amount of food and do exercise like weight lifting in the gym with effort. Unfortunately, they fail to get the result they wish. The reason is simple: muscle can not be gained during your exercise or eating. It can only be gain when you rest.
The first fact is that you can build muscle when you rest. Your body has time to divert energy to your muscle to repair so that muscle can grow when it is not lifting or digesting. But this only happens when it is downtime and the body should be left with some calories, as the machine can only work with fuel. In other word, if you hit the gym again before it is fully recovered, then your muscle growth will be set back for the body is not in the growth mode but the activity one.
The second fact is that sound sleep is very important for muscle growth. One of the most effective ways for recovery is to have a sound sleep. Your body can produce growth hormones, which help increase muscle when you are in sleep. So every day, you need about eight hours sound sleep to give your body enough time to gain muscle. One point I have to make clear is that this “eight hours” should be at night, which means if you sleep too late but still make it to be eight hours won’t be effective, either.
The third fact is that the time for recovery is according to the workout intensity. That means the more intense you work out and the more stress you have put on your body, the more time you needed to recover, repair and then grow. So if you hit the gym at full speed, you need to have two or three days of rest before you go into the gym again.
